CDT - Translation Centre for the Bodies of the European Union

If there is one thing unique at the Translation Centre, it is the large number of nationalities represented in what is still a rather small community. We are around 205 staff members coming from 27 different countries!

 

Fully aware of this cultural diversity, we have asked our teams of translators how they celebrate the holiday season. We have discovered a rather secret treasure, far from global red-and-white stereotypes and nation-related clichés, that reminds us that multiculturalism and multilingualism bear witness to the richness of humanity.

 

On 9 December 2011, the Centre organised an interagency terminology workshop which attracted 19 clients and allowed them to discuss how they tackle terminology in their organisations. Meeting representatives from so many stakeholders was a clear sign that terminology matters very much and is one of the core elements of the communication strategy in our multilingual environment.
