Happy 10th Anniversary to IATE Public!
10 years down the road, with nearly 40 million queries per year and visitors from over 200 countries, IATE has become a reference in the terminology and linguistic field not only for language professionals, but also for national experts, policy advisers, public administrations, academia and private sector companies operating across different specialist areas, in multilingual contexts.
The Translation Centre for the Bodies of the European Union has been successfully managing the project on behalf of the IATE partners (European Parliament, Council of the European Union, European Commission, Court of Justice of the European Union, European Central Bank, European Court of Auditors, European Economic and Social Committee, European Committee of the Regions, European Investment Bank and, as observer, the Publications Office) since its conception in the early days of 2000. Currently, it is embarking on developing the new IATE, the version that will bring about greater user satisfaction for internal and public users, improved data quality, larger scalability and interoperability, increased efficiency in terminology work and lighter technical maintenance. Among the key features under development are enlarged search capabilities, enhanced integration with CAT tools, advanced communication features, an optimised terminology project management module and advanced reference management through the retrieval of EUR-Lex titles.
None of this would have been achieved without the contributions of all the EU terminologists, translators and experts who have played a role in the continuous enrichment of IATE down through the years. For all that, a big thank you for your IATE contributions!
