The European Agency for the operational management of large-scale IT systems in the area of freedom, security and justice will manage the sharing of data on security, visa applications, and asylum seekers' and illegal immigrants’ fingerprints. The IT systems managed by this agency include the second-generation Schengen Information System (SIS II), the Visa Information System (VIS) and EURODAC. The agency will also be responsible for the management of any other IT systems which might be developed in the area of freedom, security and justice in the future.

Eurojust is a judicial cooperation body created to help provide safety in the field of freedom, security and justice. Eurojust was set up to assist the fight against serious crime by facilitating the optimal coordination of action for investigations and prosecutions covering the territory of more than one Member State with full respect for fundamental rights and freedoms.

Frontex, the European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders, was created as a specialised and independent body tasked to coordinate the operational cooperation between Member States in the field of border security. The Centre’s Maltese translators have prepared a glossary of important terms extracted from Frontex documents.

EFSA was set up in January 2002 as part of a comprehensive programme to improve EU food safety, ensure a high level of consumer protection and restore and maintain confidence in the EU food supply. The Centre and EFSA’s internal experts/proofreaders carried out a joint project ‘EFSA Terminology Watch’, the aim of which was to expand the existing glossaries of EFSA key terms, have them validated by the Agency and import them into IATE. EFSA independently continues to collect new terms for insertion into IATE through daily proofreading and processing of translations from the Centre.
