On 25-27 September 2019, a colleague from the Centre’s Terminology team attended the International Conference ‘Computational and Corpus-based Phraseology’ (Europhras 2019) in Málaga (Spain) and took note of the latest computerised approaches to phraseology.

The Translation Centre was invited to participate in the ‘IAMLADP University Contact Group special session in China’ hosted by the Graduate Institute of Translation and Interpretation at Shanghai International Studies University (SISU). The meeting took place between 24 and 26 September 2019.

‘Translation and Indigenous Languages’ is the theme promoted by the International Federation of Translators (FIT) to mark International Translation Day 2019. The event is traditionally celebrated on 30 September, the feast of St Jerome who is the patron saint of translators.

The European Day of Languages is an initiative by the Council of Europe celebrated every year on 26 September. It was launched in 2001 to promote language learning and preserve the linguistic richness of our continent. As part of this initiative, a series of events will take place across Europe over the coming weeks.

On 12 August 2019, the Centre signed a new cooperation agreement with the recently established European Labour Authority (ELA). The Centre’s client portfolio now consists of 67 EU bodies and institutions

The 2019 JIAMCATT (International Annual Meeting on CAT and Terminology Tools) conference was held in Luxembourg from 13 to 15 May, with the topic ‘The shape of things to come: how technology and innovation are transforming the language profession’. Representatives from the Translation Centre attended the event and took part in different working groups.
