European Maritime Safety Agency

The European Maritime Safety Agency contributes to the enhancement of the overall maritime safety system in the Community. It seeks to reduce the risk of maritime accidents, marine pollution from ships and the loss of human lives at sea. Since the maritime field is very specific and technical, it was deemed necessary to launch a terminology project to prepare the ground for the translation of long Technical Overview reports.

European Training Foundation

The ETF was established to contribute to the development of the education and training systems of the EU partner countries. Its mission is to help transition and developing countries to harness the potential of their human capital through the reform of education, training and labour market systems in the context of the EU’s external relations policy.

European Asylum Support Office

The aim of EASO is to facilitate, coordinate and strengthen practical cooperation among Member States in the field of asylum and improve the implementation of the EU’s Common European Asylum System. Some Member States are faced with specific and disproportionate pressures on their asylum and reception systems, due in particular to their geographical or demographic situation.

European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training

CEPOL is an EU agency, established in 2005. CEPOL’s mission is to bring together senior police officers from police forces in Europe – essentially to support the development of a network – and encourage cross-border cooperation in the fight against crime, public security and law and order by organising training activities and research findings. The Centre has started a terminology project for CEPOL which will continue in 2010.
