The Translation Centre ended 2019 with a total translation volume of 657 323 pages delivered to 58 clients. Far from being a ‘business as usual’ year, 2019 was marked by a spirit of innovation resulting from the determination to start implementing the Centre’s Transformation Plan 2019-2020.

The Translation Centre has adopted extraordinary measures for staff to ensure business continuity without restriction for its clients and external language service providers.

A paper on the new version of the EU’s interinstitutional terminology database (IATE) has been published by John Benjamins Publishing Company in the journal Terminology. International Journal of Theoretical and Applied Issues in Specialized Communication, which is a reference in the field.

On 18 December 2019, CuriaTerm, the terminology database of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), was successfully migrated into IATE. The Court worked closely with the Centre’s IATE Support & Development Team, led by Paula Zorrilla-Agut (IATE Tool Manager), on all of the technical aspects. Approximately 4 000 concepts and 60 000 terms from CuriaTerm are now available in IATE for internal and external users, including the national courts.

As this year comes to an end, we would like to extend season’s greetings to all of you. We hope that 2019 has been a fruitful year for you and that you can look back on many successes.
