The Centre held its fourth annual Translation Contact Network meeting
On 20 February 2018, the Translation Centre welcomed 26 representatives from 22 client organisations to its annual Translation Contact Network meeting.
In her opening speech, the Director, Máire Killoran, gave a brief outline of the Centre’s achievements in 2017 and presented the priorities for 2018. She highlighted that 2017 had been a highly productive year for the Centre. She assured clients that the Centre was fully committed to steadily enhancing the quality and timeliness of its services, in addition to investing in state-of-the-art technologies for their benefit, and to engaging with them on their specific projects.
Through presentations provided by staff from the Centre’s operational units, clients were informed about the impact of new systems and technologies on the Centre's pre- and post-processing activities, the current developments for the eCdT Client Portal, and the Centre's forthcoming web translation module for Drupal 7 based websites.
In addition, two of the Centre's clients shared best practices: the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound) presented its multilingual policy, and the European Banking Authority (EBA) explained how it manages translation feedback in collaboration with its National Authorities and the Centre.
As in previous years, the meeting proved to be very fruitful, both in terms of increasing clients’ knowledge of the Centre’s services and working methods and enabling the participants to exchange experiences and ideas for improvements in the field of multilingualism.
