The latest major release of IATE (Interactive Terminology for Europe) is now live, marking an important milestone for the EU’s interinstitutional terminology system. Managed by the Translation Centre for the Bodies of the European Union (CdT) on behalf of its EU partners, IATE continues to serve as the central reference tool for reliable, high-quality multilingual terminology.
It supports translators, terminologists, administrators and the wider public in ensuring clarity and consistency across all EU languages.
A Renewed Interface and Improved Navigation
This new release introduces a fully renewed interface, designed to improve usability, clarity and overall navigation for all user profiles. One of the most visible changes is the new side menu, which provides centralised access to all IATE pages and functionalities. The menu can be expanded or collapsed as needed, allowing users to navigate the system more efficiently and tailor the interface to their workflow. Customisable pinned pages make it easier to access frequently used pages and tools.
Updated and Refined Features
In addition to the redesigned interface, many existing features have been updated and refined. These improvements contribute to a smoother and more efficient experience, while ensuring continuity for regular users. With tens of millions of searches carried out every year by users around the world, IATE continues to evolve in response to real and diverse needs.
Looking Ahead
This release marks an important milestone, but it is only the beginning. Further enhancements are already planned and will be rolled out progressively in the coming months, as IATE continues to support clear and consistent multilingual communication across the European Union. To explore the new interface and stay informed about future developments, we invite you to consult the Release Notes and related updates on the IATE website.
