Today, on International Translation Day 2021, the translation services of the EU institutions have launched a joint webpage entitled 'Translation at the EU institutions'. It provides a central point of information on EU translation work and job opportunities.

On the occasion of International Translation Day (30 September), the Translation Centre is organising an online workshop entitled ‘Multilingualism – a challenge for the EU Agencies Network’ under the umbrella of the EU Agencies’ Heads of Communication and Information Network (HCIN). Ms Emily O’Reilly, the European Ombudsman, will be the event’s keynote speaker.

Every year on 26 September, Europe celebrates the European Day of Languages. The initiative was launched 20 years ago by the Council of Europe to promote language learning and preserve the linguistic richness of our continent. As part of this initiative, several events are currently taking place across Europe.

In July 2021, a new version of the interinstitutional EU terminology database, IATE, was released. The main upgrade relates to the search, which has been completely redesigned to offer two views and more flexibility.

On 24 June 2021, an English-language linguist from the Translation Centre took part in the Joint Training Venture ‘Clear writing: write for your reader’. This was a pre-conference in a series of conferences that form part of the European Commission project ‘Clear writing for Europe 2021’.

On 22 April 2021, the Translation Centre hosted its 6th annual Translation Contact Network (TCN) meeting. A total of 46 representatives from 37 EU Agencies, Joint Undertakings and Institutions attended this half-day event, which was held online due to the pandemic.
