The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) is an advisory body of the European Union. It was established in 2007 by a legal act of the European Union. The FRA helps to ensure that fundamental rights of people living in the EU are protected. The FRA also informs people about their fundamental rights. In doing so, it helps to make fundamental rights a reality for everyone in the European Union. The FRA texts covered wide-ranging subjects. Therefore, a terminology project for FRA was launched by the terminology group. Some 200 terms regularly used in FRA documents were selected and submitted to the FRA for approval, together with contexts and definitions. The multilingual part of the project will follow in 2010.
