The European Maritime Safety Agency contributes to the enhancement of the overall maritime safety system in the Community. It seeks to reduce the risk of maritime accidents, marine pollution from ships and the loss of human lives at sea. Since the maritime field is very specific and technical, it was deemed necessary to launch a terminology project to prepare the ground for the translation of long Technical Overview reports.
