On 4 June 2018, the Translation Centre’s Director, Ms Máire Killoran, met with the Director of Chafea (the Consumers, Health, Agriculture and Food Executive Agency), Ms Véronique Wasbauer, and two of her Heads of Unit in order to explore ways of further strengthening cooperation with our neighbour agency, with whom we share the same building.

The Translation Centre attended the 21st annual conference of the European Association for Machine Translation (EAMT 2018), which took place in Alicante on 28-30 May 2018. The EAMT conference is a forum that brings together researchers, developers and users of machine translation (MT) technology from the public sector and the industry.

We are pleased to announce the release of the Highlights of the year  2017. This publication presents our main achievements of last year, showcases the diversity of our activities and depicts our role within the family of EU agencies and bodies.

The Centre attended the Annual Meeting of the Universities Contact Group (UCG) of the IAMLADP Working Group on Training, which was held at the European Parliament in Brussels on 18 and 19 April 2018. The meeting was attended by representatives from most EU institutions, as well as by various United Nations organisations. Several universities were also represented.


Europe Day 2018 will take place on Wednesday 9 May in Luxembourg city centre. It celebrates the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, which spearheaded the idea of setting up a European Coal and Steel Community. This declaration is considered as one of the founding events leading to European integration.

On 20 February 2018, the Translation Centre welcomed 26 representatives from 22 client organisations to its annual Translation Contact Network meeting.
