Visit to Europol and Eurojust in The Hague

On 30 November 2017, the Translation Centre’s Director, Máire Killoran, and the Head of the Translation Department, Thierry Fontenelle, visited two clients in The Hague: the European Union’s Judicial Cooperation Unit (Eurojust) and the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol). They presented the Centre’s activities, quality assurance policy and pricing structure among others, and explored ways of strengthening collaboration in the future.

In the morning, they met with the Administrative Director of Eurojust and the Head of Operations ad interim. This agency was set up in 2002 in order to reinforce the fight against serious crime. It stimulates and improves the coordination of investigations and prosecutions between the competent authorities in the Member States.

The afternoon was dedicated to the meeting with Europol, with which the Centre has been cooperating since 1996. The meeting took place with the Executive Director of Europol as well as with some of the Agency’s key staff members. Europol’s mission is to support Member States in preventing and combatting all forms of serious international organised crime and terrorism.

At both meetings, the participants discussed opportunities for business development with the Translation Centre.
