The Translation Centre is pleased to announce that on 25 November 2019, it signed an arrangement with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW).

As in previous years, the Translation Centre attended the 6th Translating Europe Forum organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Translation (DGT) in Brussels on 7 8 November 2019. Around 500 professionals from the language industry, academia and the public sector attended this event, which was titled ‘translation all around us’.

December is upon us, and our colleagues would like to extend season’s greetings to you in all 24 of the official EU languages with the Translation Centre’s advent calendar for 2019.

On 25-27 September 2019, a colleague from the Centre’s Terminology team attended the International Conference ‘Computational and Corpus-based Phraseology’ (Europhras 2019) in Málaga (Spain) and took note of the latest computerised approaches to phraseology.

The Translation Centre was invited to participate in the ‘IAMLADP University Contact Group special session in China’ hosted by the Graduate Institute of Translation and Interpretation at Shanghai International Studies University (SISU). The meeting took place between 24 and 26 September 2019.

‘Translation and Indigenous Languages’ is the theme promoted by the International Federation of Translators (FIT) to mark International Translation Day 2019. The event is traditionally celebrated on 30 September, the feast of St Jerome who is the patron saint of translators.
