Das Übersetzungszentrum für die Einrichtungen der Europäischen Union ist eine Agentur der Europäischen Union. Es wurde 1994 in Luxemburg gegründet und seine Hauptaufgabe besteht darin, den anderen dezentralen EU-Agenturen Übersetzungs- und Sprachdienstleistungen zur Verfügung zu stellen. Es kann auch diejenigen EU-Organe und -Einrichtungen unterstützen, die über eigene Übersetzungsdienste verfügen, wenn deren Arbeitsbelastung besonders hoch ist oder bestimmte Projekte durchgeführt werden sollen. Insgesamt übersetzt das Zentrum für fast 70 Kunden. Ende 2020 waren insgesamt 220 Mitarbeiter, darunter Beamte, Bedienstete auf Zeit und Vertragsbedienstete, beschäftigt. ERFAHREN SIE MEHR

Our director recently spoke at the LT4All 2025 conference in Paris. She addressed the conference theme, ‘Advancing Humanism through Language Technologies’, by discussing the role of AI in translation, emphasising that human expertise remains vital for quality assurance. This hands-on experience highlighted how we combine cutting-edge tools with expert linguistic skills to support multilingualism in EU agencies.

This year marks a significant milestone for the European Union as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the ‘big bang’ enlargement, which introduced nine new languages into the EU arena. Translation Centre Director, Ildikó Horváth, recently attended the KCI conference on 26 September, where she engaged in a lively panel discussion about the transformative changes required in translation and interpretation to support this multilingual landscape.

The Translation Centre was delighted to welcome four new clients to its community in 2023 and 2024: the Joint Research Centre (JRC), the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC), the Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking (JU) and the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU).
