Editing of source texts
Editing is defined as a language check of a text to ensure that it follows the grammar, punctuation and spelling rules of the source language. Grammar, punctuation and spelling mistakes are corrected by the editor. The editor will work in track changes mode to highlight changes made to the text. Where the editor feels that the language quality of the text could be improved in terms of clarity and comprehensibility, they will add a comment to the text in question, making a suggestion for improvement. The editor is not expected to identify or correct any errors or problems relating to the content of the text. Should the editor detect possible content-related problems, they will highlight these in the text. It is up to the client to evaluate the pertinence of all the comments and take appropriate action. The editor will not correct any issues relating to the formatting or layout of the text.
Language consultancy
Language consultancy consists of the analysis of a client’s language needs in order to develop solutions that optimise the translation process. This may include the creation and maintenance of custom neural machine translation engines, the set-up and design of specific workflow systems, the technical and linguistic pre-editing of original material to improve its final quality, etc. As the workload for this type of service depends greatly on the complexity of the individual case, each project is defined in close cooperation with the client.
