Het Vertaalbureau voor de organen van de Europese Unie is een agentschap van de Europese Unie. Het werd in 1994 opgericht in Luxemburg en heeft als voornaamste taak het verstrekken van vertalingen en het verlenen van aanverwante taalkundige diensten aan de andere gedecentraliseerde agentschappen van de EU. Het kan ook ondersteuning bieden aan EU-instellingen en -organen met eigen vertaaldiensten, wanneer die het zelf buitengewoon druk hebben of als het om specifieke projecten gaat. Het Vertaalbureau levert vertalingen aan in totaal bijna zeventig klanten. Eind 2020 werkten er in totaal 220 mensen voor het Vertaalbureau, als ambtenaar, tijdelijk functionaris of arbeidscontractant. MEER WETEN

This year marks a significant milestone for the European Union as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the ‘big bang’ enlargement, which introduced nine new languages into the EU arena.
