Centrul de Traduceri pentru Organismele Uniunii Europene este o agenție a Uniunii Europene. A fost înființat la Luxemburg în anul 1994, iar misiunea sa principală este de a furniza servicii de traducere și servicii lingvistice conexe celorlalte agenții descentralizate ale UE. De asemenea, Centrul poate oferi asistență pentru acele instituții și organisme ale UE care dispun de servicii de traducere proprii, atunci când volumul de muncă al acestora este excesiv sau pentru proiecte specifice. În total, Centrul traduce pentru aproape 70 de clienți. La sfârșitul anului 2020, personalul era format din 220 de membri, incluzând funcționari, agenți temporari și personal contractual. One of the Translating Europe Workshops (TEW) took place on 25 October, and was jointly organised by the European Commission and the University of Granada. This year’s theme was 'Translation nowadays and beyond: technological challenges and diversification of an ever-evolving profession'.

The Workshop covered topics ranging from translation specialisations and language technology to accessibility, and provided a comprehensive overview of the current state and future prospects of translation practices.

International Plain Language Day was established on 13 October by the founders of the Plain Language Association International (PLAIN), with the aim of increasing public awareness of the importance of plain language in effective communication.
